Health problems from indoor pollution today:
- Chest Pains
- Coughing
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Migraines
- Nausea
UPDATE: I spoke to Daniel again today, apparently
Charles told him that he didn't intend on sending out the notice he told me he
was going to send out 2 weeks ago, so telling me he was going to do so was a
shove-off tactic just to get me off of the phone & a flat-out lie. I tried to make it clear that if Charles
wants me to sit back & let him take care of the problem rather than trying
to take care of the problem myself, then he needs to be doing something about
it rather than ignoring it.
I also mentioned these
post on Facebook (again) & stated that I believe people in the building are
starting to learn about them. I also
stated that the purpose of these posts were to make sure that people seeing
them would NOT purchase a unit here if they didn't want to deal with the same
problems I have been dealing with nearly every day for the last two years. I also stated that he might end up getting
complaints about these posts or people moving out.
I mentioned that while
I didn't want to go over Charles' head, I would if I had to (and he already
knows that from other organizations I have contacted in the past, the Tobacco
Prevention & Control program is one that has actually attempted to
intervene in the past, but considering smoking inside is "allowed",
it wasn't really the right avenue to pursue).
I made it clear that if I didn't get a response by tomorrow (which I
expect is going to be anything but friendly, I'm going to attempt to find a way
to record it before he calls, but this is short notice & probably won't
have it before he calls), I would be attempting to find a contact for the HOA
of Utah to file a complaint on the illegal activities & a contact with my
Senator would be following that.
Charles is likely going
to lash out over this call (possibly even call my father being the legal owner
of the unit as he's done in the past, where I'll get yelled at by my father
over it), as he normally does when he feels he's being "attacked"
(and I'm not going to disagree with that; people can only go so far until they
blow up on a situation, so it was bound to happen). He might try to threaten me with foreclosure again, however I
made it clear in my discussion (more like a rant) that if Charles takes that
route, he is going to deal with problems that he's never had to deal with
before, as I expect if he had had to deal with them in the past, he wouldn't
have that position anymore (I stated it like that word for word). I'm not going to go into detail on that
"final step", but people who really want to know can find the other
posts regarding it down the South 67 Condos Facebook page.
One other thing I
mentioned was that with nearly daily problems of pollution from other units for
around 2 years, I really don't WANT to live here & I would move if I had
the option. I know that my father has considered
finding another place for me to move to, however unless it's a small house (not
a shared residential building like where I've had this problem in every one
I've living in), moving isn't going to do a lot of good. I'm certain Charles would just be glad to
get rid of me "on my own terms" thinking that if I thought it was my
own doing there wouldn't be any retaliation; however moving when the problem
was never resolved (or rather, moving because of that problem), means the posts
on that problem are never cleaned up, the review will never be removed &
word of mouth (my mouth) is that anybody I talk to is going to get the same
story...that they should stay as far away from this property as possible &
"here's why" (queue lengthy story of my ordeals while living here).
UPDATE: Went out to
take out my recyclables & get my mail, immediately got hit in the face with
the pollution in the public hallways when I opened my front door. I made it a point to hurry through the
hallways so I wouldn't get much of it in my lungs, a fruitless effort... By the time I got back in my unit (only
being in the public hallways for maybe 30 seconds), I was having a coughing fit
that literally took about 10 minutes of non-stop coughing to get the majority
of it out of lungs. Of course it's in
my unit also (even with the cooler off, but it's about 10 times worse in the
public hallways), it hasn't really stopped since last night (possibly
longer)... I opened my windows when I
got back in to try & air out the pollution from other units that is
"invading" my unit.
I think I decided I'm done playing nice with people around
here. I was using headphones while I
had my windows open to avoid bother people in the neighboring building, but I
think I've had enough of trying to be considerate to ANYBODY on this blasted
cesspool of a complex. Charles
currently is ignoring the indoor smoking problem & I have to expect he
didn't follow through with what he said he was going to do in relaying the
illegal drug use to the police (not to mention hasn't replied to either of those
emails I sent him). If people are
complaining about me, he won't ignore the problem & I'll make it a point to
point out (again) that I won't be stopping until they stop (not that that's
done any good in the past, but I don't intend on throwing in the towel until
I've seen some progress on this matter).
UPDATE: I located
the following document on the web in regards to indoor smoking in condos,
decided to print it up & put it up in the foyer. Charles doesn't like it when I put stuff up, but considering he's
ignoring the issue, fuck it, I'm doing it anyways. This is not a matter of "harassing" people who smoke
inside however (as he usually puts it), but more informing people who are
having a problem with it on what they can do to have something done about
it. What I do expect is going to happen
is there will be complaints about it, then Charles is going to get involved
again whether he wants to or not:
UPDATE: Seems that
that document I put up in the foyer may have made somewhat of a difference in
the problem, the public hallways don't smell nearly as bad anymore &
there's been a significant decrease in the pollution in my own unit as well
(not enough to stop coughing yet, but definitely an improvement). I'm going to ride this out as long as I can,
but I expect I'm going to be hearing from Charles about it given enough time...
